Wonderful walk.
A must when in Keswick.
Flat, smooth surface. Scenic route. Parking is at the Keswick Leisure Centre, and there's plenty of spaces, we went over Easter weekend and it wasn't too busy, though we went later in the day. As you reach the end there's the option of popping to the coffee shop in Threlkeld (500m up into the pretty village) well, we did, and glad we were too as it was lovely. Then turn back for the return. Took us 3 hours (not including the stop) but we weren't racing. The whole place is a credit to everyone involved in the development and the information as you go along is very informative. It really is a gem and locals should feel proud. Loved it.😊
Great place to be with the family, may that be on bikes or on foot. Beautiful scenery all around would recommend
Level tarmac in good condition makes a smooth journey for any ability. Walking the disused keswick railway trail. About 5km to the end and you can onto the village Threlkeld to grab a coffee. Beautiful/picturesque scenery with tunnels/bridges across waterways.
A fantastic flat trail for all…
As someone who’s recently started trying to lose weight, I’ve taken up walking and challenged myself to do this 10K out and back trail as I’d read it was good for all abilities due to it’s smooth surface and small gradients.
The views you have on this trail are fantastic, from flowing rivers to rolling fields and mountains - especially if you have a nice sunny day for it like I had.
As mentioned earlier, this whole walking thing is new to me and I managed to do this 6 mile walk - granted I have sore legs and feet now but that’s on me not being used to such movement!
I’d recommend this walk to anyone looking to get a nice bit of fresh air without the massive challenges that the local mountain hikes can throw at you.
So great to see the trail up and running again. Nice safe and solid pathway from near Threlkeld all the way in to Keswick. Fantastic views and enough seats along the way to rest tired legs. Suitable for walkers, cyclists and pooches alike.
Another fantastic walk for miles without stiles. Hard surface makes it suitable for wheelchair users. Park either in Keswick or Threlkeld to access the walk, I parked in Threlkeld at the cricket pitch just off the A66, if accessing the walk from Keswick, there is parking at the old sport centre. There is off road parking at the other end of Threlkeld for about 6 cars. The walk is approximately 4 miles either way and winds through the woods and next to the River, before coming out at the top of Keswick near the sports centre. Fantastic walk for all types of families and cycling.
Beautiful and fully accessible miles without stiles walk. Lovely scenery over the bridges and information points telling you about the tunnels and area. Lots of different access points, distance markers along the way and if you’re able to you can walk down to the rivers too (this part isn’t accessible).
Google maps doesn’t take you to the route - Apple Maps does though! You can park in the old station car park or on the road around the corner from there.
Really enjoyed this trail. Not too long or too short. As everyone says has some lovely scenery and views and loved the history of it.Its good they restored it after the 2015 storm and have done a fab job.
Really smooth surface for walking or cycling and loads of spots to stop for pinics.
